With that said, let’s get started.

Is Iowa A Good Place To Setup an MLM Company?

One of the things that I came to find is that there are only a few states that are really popular for headquartering an MLM company.

The main state to set up an MLM company would have to be in Utah but there are many other states that MLM companies are headquartered in but they just don’t have the same tax breaks that Utah offers.

Iowa is a great state and there have been some popular MLM companies based here but lately, I have found that there are not many left if any that I can find.

I am sure there are a couple but they are probably smaller MLM companies as of right now.

If you know of any, let me know in the comments below.

One of the things that I want to let you know if you didn’t already know this is that even though an MLM company is not headquartered in your state that you live, you can still join it if you like what they offer.

What Is MLM?

What Is MLM In Iowa

There are many definitions and dictionary-style of information that you can find about what is MLM.

The way that I am going to explain what MLM is by my 14 plus years of experience in MLM.

Basically, MLM stands for “multi-level-marketing” which in its simplest form means, in terms of MLM, “multiple levels of commissions” that you can get paid on.

There are 3 main types of MLM compensation plan that all MLM companies use which are:

  • The unilevel compensation plan
  • The matrix compensation plan
  • The binary compensation plan

There are hybrids of each one that you will see and there are, in many cases, combinations of 2 and even all 3 with the unilevel compensation plan being used the most often.

MLM companies don’t advertise with the company budget, they use their members/distributors/IBO’s to market and do all of the advertising for them which is normal. Having the company doing marketing and advertising just means that you would need to compete with the company when pitching the opportunity to others which in most cases doesn’t work. One of the MLM companies that is an exception is Beach Body which actually helped its distributors.

When you form your base of personal sign-ups or “personal team”, you are now setting your foundation for multiple levels of commissions that you can earn.

When your personal team starts to share the opportunity with others and they sign up people, then you will start to earn from those people as well. This will continue for more levels.

Each MLM compensation plan will come with “qualifications” in order to earn a higher percentage per level or earn bonuses but when your “team” grows is when you will start earning more money and also more residual income.

MLM is also an opportunity that you can join and not worry about creating your own product, worry about customer service, fulfillment, or shipping. All you have to do is share the opportunity and sign people up.

It’s a simple business model that anyone can do and many MLM companies offer affordable options to get started.

This brings me to my next point, in order to earn, you will need to be a product of the product so 95% of the time, you are required to purchase a certain amount of product each month to qualify to earn commissions which are usually the base requirement for all MLM companies.

When you read through my many reviews, you will start to see how all of the MLM’s that you encounter are very similar.

Are MLM Companies Illegal?

Is MLM A Scam In Iowa

I get this question a lot from new people that are just getting started with MLM.

Not just with MLM, but with some of the affiliate programs that I make money with as well but more directed with MLM.

MLM is not illegal when the company has a solid business plan and offers everything that they need to offer in order to be an MLM company that is in compliance with the law.

Here is the United States, some of these things include:

  • A retail option for the products that members can purchase for a wholesale cost. This is one of the biggest issues that MLM companies face when getting hit with fines in the USA.
  • The company has to make sure that its members are promoting the business in a compliant way. Many people that get involved with MLM start telling others that their product is the cure for this or that which is a huge no in the eyes of the regulators. If this happens any good MLM company will automatically terminate that member that was doing that type of promotion to save the company from a big fine or even closure.
  • The compensation plan has to be geared toward stages of growth with “conditions” so that the opportunity is not a money game. This just means that there have to be legitimate sales being made for the profit that the members earn.
  • There is another “hard to know” legal aspect in the US where MLM companies have to show that there is a certain percentage of retail sales to wholesale member sales. This will show the regulators that the products/services sell on their own and do not appear to be a money game. It’s like an indicator of poor products/services and will tell the regulator that there is something not right going on here.

Those are just some of the things that a legit MLM company has to offer in order to be in compliance with the MLM laws in the states but every country is different from their laws so make sure to check.

Just to recap, no, most MLM companies are not illegal, but they will require you to earn sales and build a downline for you to earn commissions.

Most people that call MLM companies a scam or a pyramid scheme usually have failed by thinking that all they would have to do is just join and sit there and do nothing to earn money which is a big fantasy in any world.

Conclusion

In my final section on MLM companies in Iowa, I want to sum up what was mentioned in my article.

If you are thinking of joining an MLM company, then it is completely safe but I would advise you to find a team that offers training and support.

If you are new and have no experience, this is vital to your success and we wouldn’t want you to quit and say it doesn’t work when it absolutely does.

With that said, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find any MLM companies that are headquartered in Iowa, but don’t let that stop you from finding a solid good opportunity to earn extra money from home.

There are plenty of opportunities that you can find on the internet that you can make money with and I actually am earning money with a few myself.

I make much better than a full-time income by promoting programs online and have been doing this for over 14 years now.

With that said, I hope you enjoyed my MLM companies in Iowa article.
