Survey Junkie Review – Is It Legit or a Scam? How It Works

Welcome to my Survey Junkie Review.

One of the things that we need to learn about before we join any program that we can make money with is to find out if it is a scam or not, even if it’s free to join.

We wouldn’t want to lose a ton of time on a program to end up losing all the time and money that we put into trying to make money with it.

Survey Junkie Review

We are going to take a look at various parts of the Survey Junkie program to see how it works, how you get paid, a little bit of background about it, and some pros and cons about it.

This program has been out for a while, but it is still a popular program that you probably found when searching for different ways to make money online.

Because of that, we wanted to learn what it really is all about.

With that said, let’s dig in and see what we can learn.

Survey Junkie Review – What Is It?

What Is Survey Junkie

Just like the name of the company says, it’s all about paid surveys.

Paid surveys that are offered from major and medium-sized companies that want to better their company by hearing what the consumers have to say and then you can earn money from the surveys that you complete.

You don’t have to hunt these paid surveys down because Survey Junkie will find all these available surveys for you then notify you when one is available for you.

Well, hopefully, a paid survey that you can qualify for which will depend on the companies qualifications they need from you.

We’ll get into those qualifications that you will need a bit later in this review.

Just like we mentioned before, when doing a search online for ways to make money, you’ve probably run into the Survey Junkies opportunity and probably were thinking if you can really get paid for simply filling out surveys, and here are our thoughts…

Is Survey Junkie Legit or a Scam?

Is Survey Junkie A Scam or Legit Opportunity

Let me just first start out by saying that there are a ton of companies that offer this type of program where they will find surveys for you that you can complete and earn money.

Depending on the company, they will also offer additional ways that you can make money.

Here are a few of the additional ways:

  • Referring others to the programs.
  • Making money when those referrals purchase add-ons or “extras” that the companies offer.

In my experience, most of the paid survey companies offer legitimate surveys, but some of them I found don’t pay out what was promised or hold back your commissions.

So, when a company doesn’t “pay”, that is when we really consider these companies to be a scam or not legitimate.

In the case of Survey Junkies, after researching outside forums, and looking at a ton of reviews and testimonials from various sources it is safe to say that Survey Junkies is not a scam.

But here is the thing you have to really understand…

Don’t go and quit your job thinking that when you join Survey Junkies you are going to replace your regular income.

Don’t get me wrong, you definitely can make money online by filling out surveys especially with the Survey Junkie opportunity, but the time it will take you to find the surveys that you qualify for and the amount of money they payout will not be as much at first glance.

With that said, I am going to really break down how the Survey Junkies program works and how much you can make in the following sections so that you can decide if Survey Junkie is something that you can see yourself making money with.

Survey Junkie Company Overview

Survey Junkie Reviews

In this section of the review, we are going to take a look at the Survey Junkie company information.

Without question, Survey Junkie is one of the oldest and well respected legitimate survey companies that are available to join right now.

The company is doing business now under the name Blue Media Inc and operates out of Glendale, California in the United States.

The Blue Media Inc. company was incorporated in California back in January 2011.

The Survey Junkie program itself started out back in 2005 which gives them over 10 years of experience in what they do.

With those many years doing business, and for what they offer and how the paid survey opportunities work, there are bound to be many complaints that we will get into later on in this article.

However, for those that are familiar with how these programs work, they are on par if not better than most other competitors that are out on the market right now.

According to the company website they host more than 3 million members, not sure if they are all active, but that is how many they have accumulated is what I am understanding.

The way they are able to pay you commissions is through the partnering companies that pay Survey Junkie for providing qualified people to complete surveys.

Survey Junkie then offers a percentage to its members for these completed surveys, including referral commissions.

The surveys are provided by the partnering companies to better improve their company brand how they market, and to improve their overall business model.

That is all we have on the company information, let’s move on to the next section.

Is Survey Junkie Accredited With The BBB?

Yes, Survey Junkie is accredited with the Better Business Bureau.

The company name listed on the BBB is Blue Media Ventures, Inc. and has a B+ rating.

Here is a quick breakdown of what the BBB has listed:

  • 46 complaints listed
  • 1 out of a 5-star rating
  • The main issue stated was the problem with delivering products or services.
  • Survey Junkie has responded to many if not all the complaints that I found.

With that said, I don’t usually go by what the BBB has for a rating or reviews simply because I know that the BBB has been notorious for having manipulated ratings and reviews from 3rd party service companies that anyone can hire to either better or worsen a companies status.

But, I do like to refer to the company information and compare the reviews and testimonials from my other resources when the BBB offers that information.

On that point, I was able to find many reviews from other resources that understand how these paid survey companies operate and left very positive reviews for Survey Junkie.

When taking the time to look over the complaints that the BBB offered on the company, many of them were mentioning many issues that are very normal and typical when dealing with ANY paid survey opportunity.

I will go deeper in a later section and cover many of the common complaints that people have stated about this opportunity.

Let’s move on…

How Does Survey Junkie Work?

So, here is the question that many of you are wondering I am guessing.

How does Survey Junkie work?

How Does Survey Junkie Work

Step 1

Just like any other paid survey opportunity, you will need to first register a new account.

Step 2

Then you will have to fill out an initial “about you” survey that will ask you many of the common “qualifying” questions that many of the survey companies require.

Filling out the initial about your survey will basically “get you in the door” for many surveys that fit your personal demographic.

This initial survey will ask you questions like:

  • How old you are
  • Are you married
  • How many kids do you have
  • Do you shop online
  • What stores do you typically shop at
  • What type of phone do you have
  • How many TV’s do you have
  • What are your children’s ages
  • and so on…

This will give the companies the initial trigger to qualify you for surveys to complete.

This will not completely qualify you for the survey, you will still need to start answering the official survey qualifying questions to see if you fully qualify.

This is one of the complaints that people have, but this is a very typical practice and how this process works.

Step 3

After you created your account, fill out your profile, and completed your initial personal survey, you can start getting paid surveys.

This can either be done by logging into your account to see if any are available or you can also get email notifications by selecting that option in your back office.

Step 4

After you get a survey, qualify for it and then complete it, you will earn points.

Those points can be redeemed for a cashout.

That’s pretty much how it all works.

It is really simple to set up and get going with Survey Junkie.

How Much Can I Make With Survey Junkie?

How To Make Money With Survey Junkie

This is the question that many of you are interested in learning, especially if you are thinking that you can make really good money by simply filling out surveys online.

So how much money can you “really” make with Survey Junkie?

The Truth

As you have probably figured out by now, Survey Junkie will not provide you with a “job quitting” type of income.

For those types of numbers, you are going to want to visit one of the links that I personally provide on this review for that.

You are not going to make a fortune by filling out surveys that you can get paid for completing.

But the amount of money that you can earn with Survey Junkie is very similar to other platforms that offer the same surveys.

The Breakdown

Depending on the length of the survey will offer a higher amount than you can get paid.

When looking at the “average” amount that you can earn per completed survey will range between $1 to $3.

This amount is along the same line with all the other paid survey sites even if the website “claims” that you can make a lot more. (some sites make outrageous claims)

Depending on your personal demographic meaning your personal shopping habits, and income, and depending on whether you have a family or not will heavily depend on the amount and the quality of surveys that you will qualify for.

So every person that registers will have different amounts of surveys offered to them including various amounts each survey is valued at.

The number of surveys that you will receive on average is around maybe 10 in one week.

The number of surveys that you will qualify for after completing the initial qualifying questions on each of those surveys will be around 2 or maybe 3 if you are lucky.

The number of surveys that you will most like complete in the majority of anyone week will be 1.

You are most likely going to spend more time trying to qualify for a survey to complete than actually completing a full survey.

This is actually the #1 complaint that most people have when dealing with these paid survey opportunities, and Survey Junkie is without exception.

So, if you are looking at how much money you are going to make by filling out surveys with Survey Junkie, you are looking at on average about $12 per month.

The time it will take to fill out a survey won’t take much time at all, but the time it takes filling our test questions to see if you qualify for the surveys that you get each week will take a lot of time.

This is ok for many that make money with this type of opportunity because they understand the time investment and how these paid survey programs really work.

How Does Survey Junkie Pay You?

After a bit of time that you had completing surveys, you are now going to want to know how to get paid with Survey Junkie.

The first thing you will have to take into account is that Survey Junkie uses a point system instead of offering a specific dollar amount or a reward like a gift card when comparing the program with other paid survey sites.

Depending on the survey that is offered and then completed you can earn anywhere from 20 to 200 points per completed survey.

After you complete the survey, those points will show up in your account instantly which is nice when you are comparing the amount of time it takes for you to see any points or rewards show up in your account to other similar programs.

So what do you do with the points you earn?

Survey Junkie Rewards

After you accumulate enough points, you can redeem them for rewards like gift cards or cash that you can get online codes for or get paid to your Paypal account.

Survey Junkie has a minimum withdrawal limit where you have to earn at least $10 in earnings before you can withdraw your funds.

When comparing dollars to points, $10 is equal to 1,000 points.

So, when comparing the points you earn per survey completed and the amount of completed surveys it would take to earn 1,000 points equals out to an “average” of 11 completed surveys it will take in order to withdraw the $10 minimum withdrawal amount.

If you are inactive in your account, the points might expire, I have not confirmed this but there have been complaints about this issue and might be a fact, so just stay fairly active and you should be fine.

If the earning of Survey Junkie is ok with you, then this opportunity might be for you, if you are looking to earn more, then you will want to click on one of the links that I provide in this review.

Some Survey Junkie Pros

With any money-making program, there are going to be some pros.

Here are a few of the pros that I’ve found for Survey Junkies:

  • The ability to make money without needing an investment
  • Website ease of use. (layout and navigation)
  • Very easy to answer the survey questions.
  • Automated (completed surveys will automatically credit your account)
  • Paypal is integrated for cash withdrawals.
  • Gift Cards offered as an option for payment.
  • The minimum $10 withdrawal limit is low compared to other similar programs.

There you go…

I feel that the #1 “Pro” that the Survey Junkie opportunity offers is the ability to earn money without any investment.

Some Survey Junkie Cons

With any money-making program, there are also cons included.

There is no one that will like everything that any 1 company will offer you when it comes to an opportunity that you can make money within my experience.

You will have to find one that fits many of the key points that you look for in an opportunity after you get some experience under your belt.

With Survey Junkie I have found some things or aspects about the company and opportunities that I personally feel are cons.

To others, they might seem not so negative, but again, these negative points are of my own opinion.

Here is the list of cons that I have for Survey Junkie:

  • They don’t pay out that much money for completing surveys.
  • There will be many surveys that you will start and 5 minutes into the survey you get a message telling you that you don’t qualify.
  • When making a transfer to their Paypal, it takes a few days compared to getting the points that are instant.
  • You can’t create multiple accounts. (doing so will risk both accounts to be terminated)
  • The referral commissions are not that great.
  • You put more time into trying to find surveys than you do earn from the ones that you qualify for and complete.
  • Survey Junkie is only offered in the US, Canada, NZ, UK, and Australia. (not in one of those countries, well sorry you can’t join or get paid)

One of the biggest if not the #1 complaint that I see with Survey Junkie is the amount of time it takes to find surveys that you will eventually qualify for that you can complete and earn money.

The biggest red flag about Survey Junkie is that there have been plenty of users that have complained that their accounts were randomly closed. They were given no reason or warning about the closure. One day they logged in, and everything was gone.

While it doesn’t happen to everyone, it’s a problem that you should be aware of when you’re looking to join a survey site. In fact, this is a common complaint that several sites share.

On a similar note, there has been a lot of complaints from users that they were not getting the payout that they requested.

The users say that they requested a transfer to their PayPal or a gift card, and they never received it. In some cases, customers were able to contact customer service, and they were able to get their money. In other cases, they never received their money. These were not extremely common, but it has happened.

Like other sites, Survey Junkie has an annoying problem of sending customers invites to surveys that they don’t qualify for. After you have entered the survey, you may assume that you qualify for the survey, but that’s not true.

Each survey is going to start with some basic questions, and depending on your answer, you might be disqualified from taking the survey and kicked out. If this happens, you won’t get credit. It happens with every site, but it’s frustrating nonetheless.

If you don’t live in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand, then you can’t join Survey Junkie. Currently, the site only accepts members from these countries, and if you don’t live in one of them, then you’re out of luck. Don’t worry, there are plenty of other panels that you can choose from.

Survey Junkie Complaints

Survey Junkie Complaints

This section is similar to the cons that I’ve found with Survey Junkies but will go into more detail about the negative reviews and testimonials that I’ve found about the company.

Also, I wanted to give a rebuttal for some of the reviews that I’ve found because many of them can be dismissed due to that very issue being addressed in the terms and service agreement.

Here is a list of some of the complaints that I’ve found:

  • Customer complaints about it taking forever to find a qualifying survey to get paid for.
  • Customer complaints about the company not paying out.
  • Customer complaints about their account getting shut down.

I have found many complaints online about Survey Junkie, but these 3 items that I listed above seem to be the most common and most used.

These complaints that I’ve found have been answered by the company itself. (the majority of them)

Here are some of the common responses that the company offered…

The time it takes to find a qualified survey is because the company requires certain demographics, and every person is different.

There might be companies that pump out surveys that are most likely looking for young families that have newborn babies, and if you don’t have that you don’t qualify.

Sometimes the supply is simply not there as well, this is just how it is with all of the paid survey sites.

When it comes to not getting paid, I’ve seen that some people will not enter their personal information thinking that the company is up to no good, but this is a requirement to get paid, simple as that, if you want to get paid you must enter some personal data.

I mean, if you earn over a certain amount in the year, they are going to need your social security number to send over the 1099 form for tax information, this is just common when you are self-employed.

When it comes to accounts getting shut down for no apparent reason, I have seen some replies to those that complain about this it was due to having multiple accounts, and this is against the terms, which can be harsh, but it is common among all the legitimate paid survey companies that are operating right now.

That is all I have on some of the complaints that I’ve found, let’s move on.
