Hello and welcome to my explanation on how the Scentsy compensation plan and how the pay scale works with my overall thoughts about the company.
But first I will dive down and cover details about the company and the products that Scentsy offers.
I will then go into detail about the main topic of this article which is the compensation pay plan structure to give you a full and detailed understanding on how it works and how you can earn commissions with the pay scale Scentsy has in place.
I will try to simplify the commissions and pay structure for you by including videos and image charts.
I will also cover a great way to find targeted leads for your Scentsy business opportunity by leveraging a great front end offer to funnel those leads into your program.
The program is also a great way to earn additional income from home.
Let’s start with a good introduction video about the Scentsy opportunity so you can get an overall idea of what this company is all about if you don’t already know.
The Scentsy Story Video
Ok, that was an entertaining video that hopefully demonstrated what Scentsy is all about.
Now let’s get into the company details.
The Scentsy Company
This is how Scentsy was created.
Orville and Heidi Thompson started Scentsy in May 2004. in Meridian Idaho.
But let me tell you their story on how they really got Scentsy started…
Orville was a serial entrepreneur and was consistently bringing home products for Heidi to try and to test out.
Most of them she found to be junk, or simply didn’t like.
When Orville brought home a Scentsy fragrance wax bar for her to test out that was banana nut bread fragrance and plugged it in with one of the warmers, she actually loved it and so did Orville.
At this time Orville and Heidi were on the brink of bankruptcy with $700k in debt and had a very hard decision to make.
They would either take a major gamble and swing for the fence and hit it out of the park with Scentsy or settle and file for bankruptcy to be safe.
They decided to take a chance an purchase the Scentsy company and go for it.
On May 1st, 2004, Orville and Heidi bought Scentsy.
They moved the company to Meridian, Idaho from where the company was originally based which was in Utah.
Scentsy’s first home was a 400 square foot metal shipping container which resided in a 3-acre sheep farm.
They didn’t have any money for employees so they had to make the scented fragrance wax bars themselves to start.
They had help from Heidi’s mom Alice.
The shipping container was located on Heidi’s mom’s sheep farm.
So Orville would make all of the bars himself, Heidi’s mom would shrink wrap them, and Heidi’s dad would label them.
Then Orville would send the product to Heidi so she can package them all up and fulfil the orders.
The company at this time was a direct sales type of company where no MLM was involved whatsoever.
Heidi and Orville knew that they had something special but didn’t want to sell it at fairs and shows.
She wanted to find a better way to get it out to the public so that is when she found the Direct Selling Association.
So after Orville came back from a Direct Selling Association meeting, they decided to go with the Direct Selling model to market the products and to also have a commissionable opportunity for people to earn as well by becoming a representative for the company.
This was the start of the Scentsy revolution.
Scentsy home parties started and people were sharing the products and the business opportunity to their friends and family.
People loved the products to where more and more people got involved as Consultants.
In 5 years Scentsy had massively grown from having 0 Consultants to having over 50,000 Consultants sharing the products and business opportunity.
In 2009, Scentsy had grown big, and operates in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Canada and grew to $178 million in revenue.
Like all companies that grow into massive proportions they had their fallbacks, one of which happened in 2009 when they had some huge issues with their fulfillment software and lost many of the orders that were made, they spent millions of dollars to try to correct most of it, but the main point that Orville and Heidi did was to stay transparent with the whole situation.
Many people were very upset, and many quit, but Scentsy bounced back from the whole situation to become stronger than ever.
Scentsy is a company that has a great and powerful story behind it.
One of the few companies that I have high respect for.
The Scentsy Products
Scentsy is well known for their fragrances.
The scented fragrance wax bars that are used with the warmers which produce a fragrance are one of the most popular and best-selling products Scentsy has to offer which was also the main product that the company started with.
They have since expanded their “scented” product line into other lines of household and houshold product scents as well.
The top-selling products have to be the fragrance wax bars, and the warmers that slowly melt the bars which activate the aromas are a quick second.
Their product line and marketing is both colorful and fun.
There are over 80 different wax cubes to choose from and they are specially formulated cubes that work with the low watt light bulb or heating element called warmers which Scentsy also supplies.
Another Scentsy product is called “Room Sprays” which is of course… is a spray with fragrance and there are 92 different sprays to choose from.
Other products they carry are Fresheners, Shampoo, Laundry and Soap, Sanitizers and male bath supplies like shaving cream and manly smelling soaps as well… lol.
The products are great!
They smell amazing and work as advertised.
I tried, them, and I like them.
Digital Cash Kings approved folks!
The Scentsy Commission Plan Structure Simplified
So to give the simplified version of how the Scentsy compensation plan or “Pay Scale” works will not be as difficult to explain as other MLM companies pay plans in the industry.
Notably, the Melaleuca compensation plan is one of the most complex pay plans due to all of their qualifiers and changes the company has made to it throughout the years… SMH
So, the Scentsy Commission Structure is designed in a unlilevel pay structure.
The unilevel pay structure means that all of your personally referred members will be placed on your first level of the compensation structure.
There is no personal referred stacking with this pay plan so that means that the only way to have more depth to your pay structure is when your personally referred members start to recruit and get their own personally referred members as well.
In the next section, I will go into more detail but try to simplify the entire compensation plan structure and pay scale for you.

The Scentsy Compensation Plan & Pay Scale
I understand that for some of you that it is difficult to understand how the Scentsy compensation plan works, especially for those that are new to the industry.
So I am going to attempt to explain it in the simplest way that I can that hopefully makes sense.
Some parts might seem a bit technical when explaining the pay scale structure but I have also included a video down below here to help explain it as well.
Basically, at the end of every Scentsy catalogue, you will have a diagram of the pay scale compensation chart that I will also include below.
Basically, you have columns and rows (referring to the pay scale chart below).
The way how this is read is this…
The rows are the rank that you are at, and each column gives you what your qualifications have to be.
And then what your payout will be is on the green, yellow and orange side.
The purple colors are the qualifications.
Basically everyone starts out as an Essential Consultant.
To Qualify to Become an Essential Consultant you will need:
- To be 18 years old,
- A US citizen or permanent resident. (no longer a requirement)
- Valid Social Security number or Valid Green Card number.
- You need to accept the Independent Consultant Agreement.
- You need to purchase a starter kit.
The income for the Essential Consultant rank would be 20% on your personal retail value.
Your personal retail value (PRV) are the points that are earned through all of your personal product sales.
So if an item that you sell is $30 plus S&H, you will get paid on the $30 which equals to 30 points.
Hopefully, that makes sense.
So with 30 PRV points, you will get paid 20% of that because you are the Essential Consultant rank or level.
The next level up is Certified Consultant
The Qualifications Needed for Certified Consultant are:
- You need to have 1,000 points in personal retail value (PRV) as an Essential Consultant
So, once you hit 1,000 PRV points you will get a promotion and a raise.
You can do this in a week, a month, or however long it takes you, there is no time frame requirement.
So now that you hit 1,000 PRV, you will now get 25% on your PRV instead of the 20% when you first started as Essential Consultant.
Once you hit the 1,000 PRV you are now at the 25% PRV for life.
Shooting Star Bonus
This is a bonus to award those of you that get super and get to work fast.
Maybe you have a game plan in place before you actually sign up?
If you are able to sell 500 PRV points in your first 15 days then you receive the Shooting Star Enhancement Kit.
Lead Consultant Qualifications
This is the rank where it starts getting a little bit confusing for people.
Here are the qualifications for Lead Consultant:
- You need to have 500 (PRV) in a month.
- You need to achieve 1,000 “Group Wholesale Volume (GWV)” in a month.
- You will need to have 1 personally referred Consultant/Director.
Now, the income you would get as a Lead Consultant are listed here:
- 25% commission of personal retail volume sales
- 2% bonus of personal wholesale volume (PWV) sales.
- 2% bonus on all of your personal referred Essential or Certified Consultant team wholesale volume (TWV)
Remember that once you hot Certified you are always considered certified so you will always get that 25% now.
The biggest thing to understand here is what TWV, PWV, GWV stand for.
What Does PRV PWV, GWV & Frontline Mean?
- PRV – Personal Retail Volume is the commissionable volume of all products that are personally sold.
- PWV -Personal Wholesale Volume is 75% of the point value of commissionable products that you sell. PRV X 75% = PWV
- GWV – Group Wholesale Volume means the total amount of wholesale volume for your entire personal team or group.
- Frontline – This means anyone that you personally enrolled in Scentsy which would be your first level, or “Frontline”.
So basically the 2 important takeaways are that Personal “RETAIL” value is 100% of the commissionable amount and “WHOLESALE” is 75% of the commissionable amount.
I hope that makes sense.
So let’s go over this again, and hopefully, it makes more sense this time around.
So basically to be a Lead Consultant you personally are going to need to have 500 PRV in points.
As a group, meaning you and anyone that you enrolled into Scentsy is going to need to have 1,000 GWV in a month.
And you are going to also need 1 personally enrolled Consultant/Director.
You are going to earn a bonus of 2% on your own PWV, meaning that if you earn 25% on a $1000 of products that you sold, you are also going to get a bonus of 2% of $750.
Additionally you are going to earn a bonus off of your Frontline members/team’s Wholesale commissionable sales volume (TWV) meaning that if your team makes $1000, you will earn 2% off of 75% of the $1000, which equals to $750, so you will earn 2% of $750.
Until you reach the rank of Director, your TWV and your PWV are going to be the same.
On the home screen of your Scentcy.com website, they have a nice little calculator to help figure this out for you if you have your numbers.

The Scentsy Pay Scale Chart
Here I have included the pay scale chart that refers to many of the things that I have mentioned throughout the compensation plan section above.
This chart will help you visualize for what has been mentioned throughout this overview.
With that said, here is the pay scale chart that also can be found in the back part of your Scentsy brochure that Scentsy supplies you when you get started that you can also refer to when you are out and about talking to prospects.
With that explained, let’s get into some frequently asked questions that I found that most Scentsy reps ask.
How Much Does It Cost To Sell Scentsy?
If you decide to join Scentsy, the Starter Kit which includes over $200 in Scentsy products will cost about $99 which includes the cost to become a Scentsy Consultant. To keep your downline and team you will need to purchase about 150 PRV in at least one month in a consecutive three-month period.
Where can I find a Scentsy Consultant Near Me
You can find a Scentsy Consultant to join by using the Scentsy.com Consultant finder tool that can be found by clicking here.
Can You Use Scentsy Wax In Glade Warmers?
You can definitely do that. I love the Scentsy brand waxes because they are better quality, but I have purchased more inexpensive warmers from Walmart. But most of the warmers will burn the wax too fast and too hot, so you will tend to get an off smell with the majority of them toward the end of the fragrance bar.
How To Quit Scentsy?
Cancellation requests can be submitted to email@example.com. You are eligible to restore your account at any time. If you request that your account to be cancelled in order to change Sponsors, your account must be cancelled for at least six months before your account can be restored under the new Sponsor. You will lose your entire team by cancelling.
Is Scentsy Worth Selling?
Well, you can refer to the article that I have written up here. I’ve included information about the Scentsy company, the products, and the pay scale to give you a very good understanding of what Scentsy is all about, and how you get paid for the production that you do.
My Scentsy Review and Overall Thoughts On The Income Opportunity
Just with like any other Network Marketing company the income opportunity is there.
But you will have to work it and work it for a long time before you start seeing the returns for your hard work and dedication especially if you are new to MLM.
The way that Scentsy wants you to share the opportunity is through home get-togethers what they call Scent parties.
You invite a bunch of friends and family over to share all the products and how they smell of course with the benefits that they offer, then you go into the company and income opportunity.
You sell some candles and warmers and make some commissions and hopefully, a few of your customers turn into personal reps that also want to earn some money like you.
The bottom line is this.
You can’t make a full time living with just one Scentsy home party.
You are going to have to consistently find people to invite over to your home to find your golden stars people that want the income opportunity that you have.
As you can see in the pay scale chart, you can definitely make some real job quitting and life-changing income but it is going to take a lot of work to hit that status.
Now, Scentsy doesn’t want you to share the opportunity over the Internet and to be honest this type of business is shared better by showing people personally how the products smell.
But if you want to find more people that want to earn income from home but through the Internet where you have an endless supply of prospects to talk to…
…you are going to have to be creative.
The best way to do it I would say is to lead with a front-end offer to find people that first want to simply earn extra income from home and then lead them into your Scentsy business opportunity.
After they join a smaller lower cost program, then you can share the Scentsy compensation plan with them and show them how the pay scale works.
Especially if they’re into candles and good smelling scents.
I know a ton of people that love their scented candles!
So I know there is a big enough market still, to earn a great income with Scentsy!
If you are interested in finding a great front-end offer to find quality motivated and hungry people to join your business I would recommend clicking on my recommended link that you can find In this article.
Well, with that said, I hoped you enjoyed my article and I hope that it answered all your questions that you were looking for about the Scentsy company overall, and more importantly, the Scentsy compensation plan and how the pay scale works.
If you found my review beneficial in any way, please share it on social media through the links social share links on this page.
