BeachBody Review – Scam? Commissions and Compensation Plan Exposed

Welcome to my article about my personal BeachBody Commission Breakdown.

I wanted to take the time to break down the compensation plan that BeachBody has to let people know how you make money with this company.

I will be covering all the aspects when it comes to how to earn commissions with Beachbody.

The company sells fitness, weight loss, and muscle-building home-exercise videos with some of the most well know trainers including Tony Horton, Chalene Johnson, and Shaun Thompson (Shaun T) through all the TV advertising and infomercials they use.

With that said, let’s see what we can learn about the BeachBody opportunity.

How To Make Money With BeachBody

First of all, the way that Beachbody is structured is in an MLM or Network Marketing platform.

Beachbody felt like this was the best platform to help advertise their products which are through Networking and sharing their product and when someone that is affiliated with Beachbody refers someone to get involved to either buy one of their products, or the more lucrative approach being, becoming a “coach” (a fancy way of saying distributor or affiliate) to represent the BeachBody products to be given the ability to earn commissions.

One of the stipulations to earn money with BeachBody is that you will need to be on a monthly subscription and purchase a certain amount of the product that they offer to become qualified for certain “tiers” of commission levels and percentages.

So basically the short answer on how to make money with BeachBody is through referral marketing.

You will be given a link, which will send your referral to one of your products or memberships, then when that referral purchases a product or membership you will earn a commission, then when that referral purchases any time in the future, for instance, buying an individual product, you will then earn another commission.

The way to maximize this compensation plan is by getting your referral on a monthly subscription, by offering them a chance to become a “coach” and by being able to earn commissions as you do.

Let’s move on to the BeachBody company and give a quick overview of this article is based on the BeachBody commission breakdown.

I still want to give a quick overview, just because I feel it’s relevant.

Always remember that when you become an Independent Distributor or affiliate where you receive W9s you will have the ability to file as a business when you do your taxes.

I’m not going to go into any of the write-offs you can “write off”, because first of all, I am not a tax lawyer, or licensed in any way to advise anyone, that is what my tax guy does for me, but what I can say is that you will have a ton of possibilities to save yourself a lot of money at the end of the year and possibly receive a much better return than working a regular job.

BeachBody Company Quick Overview

Beachbody was founded in 1998 in Santa Monica, California.

This company is owned by co-founders Carl Daikeler and Jon Congdon.

BeachBody is the creator of some of the nation’s most popular fitness and weight loss programs like P90X, Insanity, FocusT25, Piyo, Body Beast, and Hip Hop Abs to name just a few.

They sell one of the top leading health and weight loss shakes in the nation called Shakeology.

Their site teambeachbody.com is a host to over 350,000 distributors or affiliates (coaches) which are all on a monthly subscription.

Team Beachbody was created back in 2007 and is the direct selling division.

BeachBody also has a powerhouse of paid advertising that is being broadcasted through infomercials that you probably saw at one time, Internet ads, Radio, and Magazines.

I’m not sure if you have been invited to one of their workout sessions, but that is where the offer to become a “coach” is pitched to you.

Get a great workout and also leave with the possibility of becoming an independent distributor.

BeachBody Products Overview

I personally have been bombarded for years by many of the Beachbody products on TV which are called Infomercials.

Back in the day, they use to have these exercise home videos that some of you might be familiar with which were called Jazzercise home exercise workout videos.

Very bright and colorful leggings, tights, leg warmers, and stretch pants with huge earnings are all that are burned in my mind, and can remember when thinking about those older home workout videos.

Anyways…

Beachbody has taken the home workout market and blown it out of the water!

Beachbody sells fitness, weight loss, and muscle-building home-exercise DVDs.

The company’s best-known product is Tony Horton’s P90X.

Its television advertisements have become some of the most frequently shown infomercials in the United States.

Shaun T. is another one of the product instructors that were actually signed by Beachbody to create the “most intense and insane workout ever put on DVD”.

This led to the creation of Insanity, becoming one of the best-selling exercise DVDs in the United States.

As far as the nutritional products that Beachbody has offer are the nutritional products that go hand in hand with the workout video products that they sell as well.

Some of the products include and are the best-selling include:

• Shakeology – This is a powerful protein shake that is jam-packed with vitamins and nutrients to help you re-energize after your strenuous workouts. This product is the #1 selling product when it comes to nutrition within the Beachbody product line.
• 3-Day Refresh – This product is a 3-day program designed to help you lose weight while not losing energy or vital nutrients.
• Beachbody Performance Line – This includes pre-workout energy, super hydration, post-workout muscle recovery, and overnight muscle repair.
• Fixate – This includes a great cookbook that is referred to in some of the workout videos and supplies recipes for some tasty meals designed to help you lose weight while keeping you energized throughout the day. It includes 101 recipes and also comes in a package deal where you can get containers with it or by itself.

The BeachBody Compensation Plan

Fast Start Commissions

Basically, the first starting point when earning commissions with BeachBody is when you recruit someone that makes a purchase.

This is called a fast start bonus in the industry and is usually paid out the following week.

BeachBody calls this step the “Challenge Pack” bonus.

Cute name right, it’s like you are challenged to get more healthy with their products and courses?

I’m not hating on it because it works, I even work out to the Body Beast program on occasion and my sister is a coach as well and she LOVES it.

BeachBody pays out 25% on any retail regular sale you make, and up to 36% on any new coaches that buy a challenge pack.

Team Cycle Bonus Commissions

This MLM pay plan is designed in the “Binary” style.

The Binary style is a commission structure within the MLM niche and is designed as a 2 legs or “2 teams” structure.

With almost… all the binary companies that I know about, you will need to have at least 1 personal paying referral on both legs at any given time and also on auto-ship to receive this monthly payout.

A right “team” and your “left” team or leg, whatever you want to call it, mean the same thing.

This is the part of the compensation plan that you are supposed to concentrate on the most because this is where all those top earners that you hear stories about are earning those big checks from.

From my understanding, when a customer or even a team member repurchases the “Shakeology” they will continue to earn those fast start payouts which are a great feature!

Kudos Beachbody.

The Beachbody binary is designed to pay out monthly commissions when you earn a predetermined cycle of volume that the company has put in place from each leg.

This happens when 1 of your leg reaches a certain amount of volume and your other leg reaches the same amount of volume or even higher. (both legs have to meet the minimum cycle volume to release a commission)

To add, whether you personally referred a person to your right or left leg, or whether one of your referrals or team members that are above you land on any of your legs, that still counts towards your volume.

Here is how it works.

So basically The Beachbody coach compensation plan cycles a payout to you when you accumulate 300 team volume.

You will need 200 in volume on 1 leg and on the other leg, you will need to have 100 volume.

Each “cycle” will pay out $14.

So let’s say you have 30,000 volume on one leg and on the other leg, you only have 400 volume since one of the legs covers ALL the volume you will need from the other leg you will cycle only 4 times.

So even with 30,000 volume from one of your legs you only had 400 that you can cycle with which will pay you $56 for that cycle.

So after they issue the payout that cycle will decrease your volume from 400 volume to 0 volume from the lesser leg, and from the much larger leg it will decrease from 30,000 volume to $29,200 volume.

Now let’s say that you and your team have 20 active team members with subscriptions but only 4 were counted for that cycle, it’s because the rest haven’t made a subscription payment for the month yet, and everyone that joins on different days of the month, so 1 week you might have 400 volume show up, then the next might only be 100, then the next week could be 800, it just depends on the day everyone “re-orders”.

No matter what company I’ve joined that had a binary commission plan structure, I always seem to have 1 of my legs take off on me to the point where I was never able to catch up with the volume from the smaller leg.

This is actually a great thing because all you really have to do is concentrate your efforts on building the smaller volume leg.

If you decide to keep active and building with the Beachbody coach compensation plan I will guarantee you this will happen to you too.

And when you get to this point, is when you will start to see your checks increase.

I don’t know of any MLM builder that built any type of binary compensation plan that this has not happened to.

Anyways, let’s move on.

It’s also very important to note, in order to qualify to receive these cycle bonuses you must be ranked at the Emerald rank position.

I will get into what qualifies you to be at the rank of Emerald and higher and what it means as far as the commission goes, in the next section below.

Matching Bonus

This EXTRA incentive gives you that extra motivation to reach the higher ranks.

It’s kinda like the old carrot in front of the hair analogy.

If you temp something with something that something wants just right out of reach, where you can smell it and taste it almost, it gives something more motivation to try to get what they desire.

Meaning those extra commissions!

So what does Matching Bonus mean?

It means that when you reach the rank of Ruby and above you qualify to receive that extra commission.

How much do you get?

At the Ruby rank you will get 5% and at the Diamond rank and above you will get 10%.

How are that extra commissions calculated?

So this happens when only your personal referrals cycle out their commissions.

So when your personal referral earns a cycle commission, you will get paid 5 or 10% of what they are paid out. Not on the total cycle earnings, is what I understand and how it is worded on their own site.

Star Diamond Bonus

2 Star Diamonds and above are eligible to participate in four (4) Star Diamond Bonuses,

paid out quarterly. Payouts are based on all volumes generated by all Coaches in that

quarter and divided amongst all qualified Coaches for each pool.

This is where you earn a big raise if you can reach this level.

You will instantly get a cut of what all coaches make for each quarter and split up through all qualifying 2 Star Diamonds and above.

Let me just repeat myself on this bonus, this is paid out quarterly.

When you hit a 2-star diamond you will split ½ of a percent with all qualifying 2-star diamonds.

When you hit a 5-star diamond you will split ½ of a percent with all qualifying 5-star diamonds.

When you hit a 10-star diamond you will split ½ of a percent with all qualifying 10-star diamonds.

When you hit a 15-star diamond you will split ½ of a percent with all qualifying 15-star diamonds.

Each bonus accumulates, and so you can see how these bonus commissions can add up to the higher ranks when lesser and lesser members will qualify that you have to share with.

2 Star Diamond – 4 Star Diamond

5 Star Diamond – 9 Star Diamond

10 Star Diamond – 14 Star Diamond

15 Star Diamond

• Invitation to Super Star Day
• Eligibility to participate in ALL FOUR Star Diamond Production Bonus Pools
• At each Star Diamond rank from 1 through 10 the Coach can earn up to an additional $1,000 (1,000 Bonus Points) in Team Cycle Bonus. At the 10 Star Diamond Level and above, the Team Cycle Bonus can be up to $12,000 (12,000 Bonus Points).

BeachBody Commission Plan Breakdown

So here is a brief description of the BeachBody commission breakdown when it has to do with rank, and what ranks mean when dealing with your weekly cycle payouts.

So when you first join as a coach you are ranked at the coach level.

The only thing that you can earn from at this level is retail earnings and referral upgrades.

With that being said, any product that you sell one-off, or at a monthly subscription like the all-popular Shakeology, (which most go after just because of the higher commissions upfront)

You really need to think long-term if you want to make a serious income from BeachBody.

So with that said, you need to recruit some coaches.

The first rank is Emerald, the way to reach emerald is to personally refer 1 coach to your left leg and 1 coach to your right leg.

Bam, you are now at Emerald rank, congratulations!

At this rank, and with all ranks, you are limited to the earnings per week you can make.

BeachBody puts a cap on your commissions for each rank.

So at Emerald, you can cycle up to 14 times or makeup to 250 per week.

With that said, almost no one reaches the max if they get stuck at a certain rank, and if you are able to advance to the next rank, you probably will still not even reach even Emerald’s weekly max payout until you start getting momentum.

I would say around the 1 – 2-star rank.

With that said, let me quickly run you through the rest of the ranks and what you have to do to qualify, and what you can “possibly” earn for each rank.

Emerald

To qualify:

• Must maintain 50 personal volume points.
• Must have personally sponsored 1 coach on your left leg and 1 coach on your right leg.
• With a total of 2 that you personally sponsored you must be positioned in certain legs.

Ruby

At the Ruby rank level, you can cycle up to 16 times or makeup to 1000 per week.

To qualify:

• Maintain at least 75 personal volume points during the Bonus Qualification Period.
• Must have at least 2 personally sponsored active Emerald Coaches or higher with 1 on the left leg and 1 on the right leg at the end of the Bonus Week.
• You must have 1 additional coach on your left leg and 1 on your right leg.
• With a total of 4 that you personally sponsored you must position in certain legs and at certain ranks.

Diamond

At the Diamond rank level, you can cycle up to 18 times or makeup to 2,000 per week.

To qualify:

• Maintain at least 100 personal volume (PV) during the Bonus Qualification Period.
• Must have at least 2 active Emerald coaches or higher and there must be 1 on the left leg and 1 on the right leg.
• Must have 6 additional coaches 3 on your left leg and 3 on your right leg.
• With a total of 8 that you personally sponsored you must position in certain legs and at certain ranks.

Diamond 1 Star

At the Diamond 1-star rank, you can cycle up to 18 times or makeup to 3,000 per week.

To qualify:

• Maintain at least 100 personal volume (PV) during the Bonus Qualification Period.
• Must have at least 1 active Diamond or higher on whichever leg. (doesn’t matter)
• Must have at least 9 additional active coaches split up in any way between legs. (this holds true for the rest of the diamond star ranks)
• With a total of 10 that you personally sponsored you must position in certain legs and at certain ranks.

Diamond 2 Star

At the Diamond 2-star rank, you can cycle up to 18 times or makeup to 4,000 per week.

To qualify:

• Maintain at least 100 personal volume (PV) during the Bonus Qualification Period.
• Must have at least 2 personally sponsored active Diamonds or higher with 1 on the left leg and 1 on the right leg by the end of the Bonus Qualification Period.
• With a total of 12 that you personally sponsored you must position in certain legs and at certain ranks.

Diamond 3 Star

At the Diamond 3-star rank, you can cycle up to 18 times or makeup to 5,000 per week.

To qualify:

• Maintain at least 100 personal volume (PV) during the Bonus Qualification Period.
• Must have at least 3 personally sponsored active Diamonds or higher with at least 1 on the left leg and 1 on the right leg by the end of the Bonus Qualification Period.
• 1 on the right leg by the end of the Bonus Qualification Period. (or vice versa)
• With a total of 14 that you personally sponsored you must position in certain legs and at certain ranks.

Diamond 4 Star

At the Diamond 4-star rank, you can cycle up to 18 times or makeup to 6,000 per week.

To qualify:

• Maintain at least 100 personal volume (PV) during the Bonus Qualification Period.
• Must have at least 4 personally sponsored active Diamonds or higher with at least 1 on the left leg and 1 on the right leg by the end of the Bonus Qualification Period.
• With a total of 16 that you personally sponsored you must position in certain legs and at certain ranks.

Diamond 5 Star

At the Diamond 5-star rank, you can cycle up to 18 times or makeup to 7,000 per week.

To qualify:

• Maintain at least 100 personal volume (PV) during the Bonus Qualification Period.

At the Diamond 6-star rank, you can cycle up to 18 times or makeup to 8,000 per week.

To qualify:

• Maintain at least 100 personal volume (PV) during the Bonus Qualification Period.
• Must have at least 6 personally sponsored active Diamonds or higher with at least 2 on the left leg and 2 on the right leg by the end of the Bonus Qualification Period.
• With a total of 21 that you personally sponsored you must position in certain legs and at certain ranks.

Diamond 7 Star

At the Diamond 7-star rank, you can cycle up to 18 times or makeup to 9,000 per week.

To qualify:

• Maintain at least 100 personal volume (PV) during the Bonus Qualification Period.
• Must have at least 7 personally sponsored active Diamonds or higher with at least 2 on the left leg and 2 on the right leg by the end of the Bonus Qualification Period.
• With a total of 22 that you personally sponsored you must position in certain legs and at certain ranks.

Diamond 8 Star

At the Diamond 8-star rank, you can cycle up to 18 times or makeup to 10,000 per week.

To qualify:

• Maintain at least 100 personal volume (PV) during the Bonus Qualification Period.
• Must have at least 8 personally sponsored active Diamonds or higher with at least 2 on the left leg and 2 on the right leg by the end of the Bonus Qualification Period.
• With a total of 23 that you personally sponsored you must position in certain legs and at certain ranks.

Diamond 9 Star

At the Diamond 9 star rank you can cycle up to 18 times or makeup to 11,000 per week.

To qualify:

• Maintain at least 100 personal volume (PV) during the Bonus Qualification Period.
• Must have at least 9 personally sponsored active Diamonds or higher with at least 2 on the left leg and 2 on the right leg by the end of the Bonus Qualification Period.
• With a total of 24 that you personally sponsored you must position in certain legs and at certain ranks.

Diamond 10 Star

At the Diamond 10-15 star rank, you can cycle up to 18 times or makeup to 12,000 per week.

To qualify:

At the Diamond 10-15 star rank, you can cycle up to 18 times or makeup to 12,000 per week.

To qualify:

• Maintain at least 100 personal volumes (PV) during the Bonus Qualification Period.
• Must have at least 15 personally sponsored active Diamonds or higher with at least 5 on the left leg and 5 on the right leg by the end of the Bonus Qualification Period.
• With a total of 30 that you personally sponsored you must position in certain legs and at certain ranks.

BeachBody Coach Compensation Plan Chart

• You & ​Your Personal Referrals = Blue & Light Blue
• ​2nd, 3rd, and Beyond Generation Members = ​​Green & Orange
• ​Your Sponsors Spill-Over = Purple

So as you can see in the chart above, this person earned 3 cycles throughout 1 month.

The cycles have to equal out to 300 team volume total but activate the cycle when there is 200 team volume on 1 leg and 100 team volume on the other leg. (doesn’t matter which leg)

So let’s say that this person had 3000 volume on the left leg and the first week of the month this person accumulated 100 volume on the right leg, he activated a commission cycle that paid this person $14 for the week.

What happens is that volume reduces the amount of what was used for either side.

So the next week a few more people renewed their membership and accumulated 150 for the right leg.

That person activated another cycle that paid out $14 and reduced his volume by 100 on his right leg.

Then the last week of the month a few more people came in but that person only accumulated 50 team volume on the right side, but remember that person still had 50 team volume left from the prior week, so with the 2 added together comes out to 100 which triggers another cycle and paid this person an additional $14.

As your team gets bigger, the more cycles you will have.

Multiple cycles per week can really add up, and it never happens overnight but if you keep working at it, it is possible.

BeachBody BBB Rating

Some of the information that I found on the Better Business Bureau is listed below.

I included this information because I know that people want to know some of the reviews and ratings for an MLM company from a legitimate source.

So here is a list of ratings from the BBB

• BeachBody Is Accredited with the BBB with a rating of A-.
• There are currently 78 customer reviews with 17 positive, 58 negatives, and 3 neutral reviews.
• There is a total of 674 customer complaints with the most common complaint being with the most common issue being “billing/collection issues” and the second problem is with “products/service”.

How Do You Cancel BeachBody?

For this you are going to need to call the BeachBody customer support line to cancel, they will give you the details on what you have to do to cancel, hopefully, it is by simply calling them you want to cancel, but I think you might need to fill out and send in a signed form.

BeachBody Pay Plan Final Thoughts

So let’s do a quick recap.

We know that BeachBody is a reputable company, and is very well-known throughout the world.

We know that Beachbody products are big-time sellers, and weight loss and health are one of the biggest niches in the world.

The products Beachbody has of a physical nature, which makes it a little bit more legitimate feeling for the beginner person that is just getting started with earning money from their own home-based business.

And the company is solid.

The Beachbody coach compensation plan isn’t what I would say to be the easiest to make money from home with.

I don’t think I would personally put it in my top 50, but you can’t deny that this program is very popular and many people absolutely LOVE it for the culture it provides and the relationships people make.

Hey, my sister is one of the coaches for this company, not sure what rank she is at now, but she has been at it for a while and she absolutely LOVES it.

My Final BeachBody Review, Thoughts, and Bonus

In the last section of my review, I am going to share my final thoughts about the BeachBody opportunity as a whole.

We have taken the time to review and research the information about the company, the products, and the compensation plan.

We have also shared our thoughts about why we feel that this is a solid business opportunity that will be around for a long time and why.

At this point, you should have a clear idea about what Beachbody is, how it works, what they offer, and how you can make money with it.

Do we recommend the BeachBody opportunity?

Yes, we do recommend it for the simple fact that it is legitimate and it has a solid business structure.

Becoming a coach and working the BeachBody commission plan is one way to make money online or from home, and it might be the perfect fit for you.
